Yes, fear is tormenting. But, dear one, God does not want you to fear. Instead, remember 1 John 4:16 (NIV), “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love.”

When we believe this truth, we trust and live in God’s love. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18, ESV)

None of us can ever be perfect in love while in the flesh. But we can grow in love. And as our love matures, the fears disappear. We learn to abide in God’s tender care.

Spirit-begotten Christians have the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul wrote, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7. If we fear, we have the spirit of an unbalanced mind, a mind that is not understanding reality. The reality is God is in charge and He is caring for us.

So, if God hasn’t given you the spirit of fear, who has? Think about it.
