There are likely as many proofs of spirit begettal or of God’s anointing as there are people experiencing it.  To some, the Lord may show His approval through answered prayer.  Others may experience peculiar incidents that demonstrate clearly that God is now dealing with them and supervising their lives.  The most evident sign is the shift in focus in the individual’s life. What once was predominant (such as success in work, financial prosperity for himself and family, worldly fame or acceptance by others, etc.) no longer appeals to the consecrated heart.  Rather,  pleasing God in every way possible becomes the deep, primary goal.

This change of heart is clearly visible to others and is the most evident sign of God’s anointing: “You will know them by their fruits,” (Matthew 7:20).  “Hereby we know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren… we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 John 3:14,16).

Henceforth, the Lord shapes the Christian and prepares him for His good pleasure. All events in the life of the believer now serve to change and mold him in accordance with God’s purposes for him: “… the very hair of [his] head are numbered,” (Matthew 10:30).  For  God  “… will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness… [and] They will be mine, says the LORD,” (Malachi 3:3,17).
