The Scripture reads: "And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness," Genesis 1:26. Does this mean physically, with all facial and bodily variations we see in people today, or is the "soul" "the image of God" and uniform in all people? Or what is the meaning of this Scripture?

The "image of God" does not mean physical shape because "God is a spirit" (John 4:24) and man is human. Nor does it mean the "soul." Man is a soul – he does not have a soul. Genesis 2:7 (KJV), "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

"In His image" means that man was endowed with reasoning power, moral intelligence, love, and a sense of justice. God wrote His perfect law of love and justice within man's heart (Romans 2:15). Adam was in the image of the great Jehovah in these qualities of character.  "After Our likeness" means that as God is the loving, wise and just ruler of the universe, man is the king of the earth and he was given dominion over all the earthly creation. Genesis 1:28, "God blessed them (Adam and Eve), and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
