Here is a foundation principle in receiving divine favor from God:
It begins with an active faith that believes in the existence of God, and also believes in His active love to reward those who sincerely seek Him. Hebrews 11:6: “Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently search for Him.”
This faith could lead to appreciation of the love of God and the amazing sacrifice of Christ in giving his life for the blessing of all people. John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Such faith and appreciation of the divine character can lead to obedience and sincere desire to apply the principles of His Word.
Proverbs 8.33-35: “…Listen to me for blessed are they who keep my ways. Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts. For he who finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD.”
Michah 6.8: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Proverbs 3:3-4: “Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man.”
This application and appreciation of the Lord’s word can lead to trusting the LORD with ALL the heart and to completely let go of our own will, not depending on our own perception and opinion, but on His will.
Proverbs 3:5-7: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn away from evil.”
And this degree of love and trust in our hearts can lead to total commitment of our life to God and Christ.
Romans 12:1-2: “With eyes wide open to the mercies of God, I beg you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies as a living sacrifice, consecrated to Him and acceptable by Him. Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God re-mold your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all His demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.”
This step of complete commitment leads to the deepest manifestation of God’s favor as we experience His love in our lives with the future work in heavenly glory of blessing ALL of our human family—all who have not made this complete surrender and been faithful unto death. Ephesians 1:7-10: “It is in him, and through the shedding of his blood, that we have our deliverance—the forgiveness of our offences—so abundant was God’s grace, the grace which He, the possessor of all wisdom and understanding, lavished upon us, when He made known to us the secret of His will. And this is in harmony with God’s merciful purpose for the government of the world when the times are ripe for it—the purpose which He has cherished in His own mind of restoring the WHOLE CREATION to find its one Head in Christ; yes, THINGS IN HEAVEN AND THINGS ON EARTH, to find their one Head in him.”
Romans 8:18-21: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God…that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”
