It is wonderful that you want to use your talents and energy for the Lord. This is very good, and your efforts can bring great hope and peace to many.

TikTok is a tricky topic. People in the United States and Canadian governments are having very serious discussions about this app, as it is not just a place to share fun dance moves and cool videos. There is good evidence the app’s owners in China are using it to gather data from its users without consent or knowledge. In fact, those who work in Canadian and U.S. governments are already banned from having the app on their phones due to safety and privacy concerns.

In addition, social media apps like TikTok have sophisticated and secret ways of showing you videos on specific subjects, where you could easily to distracted by bad influences, taking your focus away from God, even when your intent is good. We have to be on guard against these kinds of negative influences that creep into our social media feeds, and unfortunately the best way to do this is to limit social media use as much as possible.

Sometimes when we are young, we mistakenly think WE know what’s best for us, but it’s really God who does. Good parents make good rules and do their best for us, so it’s wise to trust and obey them. Colossians 3:20 says, “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” God greatly values obedience and the wisdom to know when to accept the answers you receive from trusted adults.

There are many ways to be a good witness for the Lord. Consider focusing on activities in real life that can directly help people. What are your talents? Maybe you could visit a nursing home and play an instrument, sing, teach a craft or read from the Bible to those who would love having a visitor. Maybe there are people from your church who could use help with their computers or phones. Even sending cards of encouragement with your favorite scripture would help spread hope and be a good witness for the gospel message. Perhaps you can volunteer at a local animal shelter or church summer camp. Finding kids at school or in your neighborhood with a similar desire to serve could be the start of something very powerful.

We pray you will find a way to make a meaningful contribution and continue your desire to work for the Lord.
