God wants His children to worship Him with their whole hearts, minds, and beings. "…true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him,” John 4:23. Therefore, mankind should delight to chose righteousness over evil no matter how great the seeming rewards of disobedience.

God is permitting evil (He is NOT the author of evil) in order to teach man how truly terrible sin is. Adam and Eve were instructed not to sin, but they did not appreciate the horrors that evil would bring. They had information about sin, which proved insufficient to dissuade them from disobedience. Now, however, all mankind is learning about sin through experience. All of us know firsthand the suffering and pain sin brings.

When Christ reigns in the resurrection, people will learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:8, 9, "Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee…when they judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness." During Christ's 1,000 year reign, Satan will be bound and mankind will be healed physically, emotionally, and spiritually from the effects of sin. (See Isaiah 35.) When that 1,000 reign of Revelation 20 is over, Satan will be released and will attempt to deceive the nations again.

At that point, mankind will fully understand the difference between good and evil. When confronted with the temptation to disobey or obey God’s wonderful will, most will chose obedience! This shows the wisdom of God’s permission of evil. Without humankind’s experience with sin, they would always remain vulnerable to evil. Whereas at the end of the little season of Satan’s deception, those victorious of mankind will be proven to love God. They will be mature Christians with God’s law written in their hearts and minds. (Jeremiah 31:33.)
