Wouldn’t we all like to know the answer to this? There are certain things God just doesn’t tell us. Not only do we not know the answer, but we are told not to look for the answer. The scriptures are pretty clear.
Matthew 24:36 (ESV), “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Mark 13:32-33 (ESV), “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.” While Jesus was on earth, even He was not told the hour. That puts us in the same company as dear God’s Son.
Matthew gives us signs of the times in Matthew 24, specifically verses 32-33 (NIV). “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.” Most agree that the restoration of Israel as a nation is the fulfillment of this prophesy. We are to be watching because the time is near.
God knows it is a good thing we do not know our appointed time. We need to consecrate our lives to do His will in this life and for all eternity, not just toward a specific date. All things will be done in God’s time table. With the current events, it may seem like it is taking too long but we need to be patient.
