The fruit of the Spirit is love. (Galatians 5:22)
Jesus compared himself to a vine and his people to the branches which are expected to bring forth fruit the development of heart and character. One of these fruits is love. The Greek word here translated love is agape. This is the highest kind of love - love that does not have to be earned, and is unconditional. We love others as God loves us. John 15:13
