I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shall go: I will guide thee with mine eye. (Psalms 32:8)
The Bible tells us the eye is the symbol of wisdom: God guides us with his wisdom. An obedient child looks to his parent, and when he detects a look of displeasure in his parent's eyes, he responds with the appropriate change of behavior. So it is with us. We do not need to be reprimanded by God, but look to him for guidance and behave accordingly. Psalms 25:4
