We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29

The High Priest, and leaders of the Jews, had forbidden the apostles to preach any more in the name of Jesus. But Peter and the other apostles knew it was God's will they should tell as many people as possible about the fact that Jesus had given his life so they and all people could have life in the kingdom. So the apostles bravely told the Jewish leaders they would continue to obey God. They were not afraid to do what they knew to be right. 1 Thessalonians 2:4
