First, you need to know that God fully understands and loves you.
Psalm 139:2-6, 17-18 (NLT), "You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand…
"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!"
Part of His love is shown by teaching you about yourself so that you may grow in the fruit of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance," Galatians 5:22, 23.
Then it's a good idea to pray Psalms 19:11, "Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults." Because God knows your strengths and weaknesses, He will graciously and wisely reveal your issues to you. He will open your eyes at just the right time so that you may recognize the weakness. Then ask God to give you grace to work through these faults.
Remember that your self-understanding and work is done in partnership with God. You are to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure, Philippians 2:12,13.
