We know Satan works to oppose us through our fallen flesh and the lure of this present evil world with its temptations and lies. We are told “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light,” 2 Corinthians 11:14. He presents lies as truths.

1 Peter 5:8 tells us the devil “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” However, there is a saying today, “Satan doesn’t need to destroy us; he just needs to distract us.” Distracting us from doing God’s will is a powerful temptation we need to guard against.

The Bible does not go into detail about the powers of darkness, and we are not to explore more. We are to avoid anything akin to demonology, going to seances, witchcraft or anything to do with the occult. The Bible forbids delving into these dark powers. “Do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft,” Deuteronomy 18:10 (NLT).

God has assured us that all we need is provided for us in the Bible. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching…for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work,” 2 Timothy 3:16,17 (CSB).

We embrace the scriptural promise: “If God be for us, who can be (or what can stand) against us?” (Romans 8:31KJV) God is much more powerful than Satan and the angels He created. It is good to note the New Testament NEVER shows us any demon possession ever happening to anyone who became associated with the Christian community.

We do not need to fear or worry about “…death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,” Romans 8:38,39 (ESV). Nothing has the power to separate us from God’s love. We are safe. “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you…because you have made the LORD your dwelling place…” Psalm 91:7,9 (ESV).

We want to make sure we are on the Lord’s side. Then Satan and the fallen angels will have no power against us. One day these evil beings will be eternally destroyed (Matthew 25:41,42).
