Some form of an annual celebration of love is found in many countries and cultures. On the surface, it seems harmless to pause and acknowledge a wholesome love and appreciation between students, friends and spouses. However, we should be respectful and thankful to God for the blessings of our relationships every day of the year.

As with most holidays, retailers have capitalized on the event. According to the National Retail Federation, Americans alone are expected to spend almost $28 billion dollars on Valentine’s Day-related things in 2025.

As Christians following in the footsteps of Jesus, our time, energy and money have been consecrated to God, so we must be prudent as to what we do with our resources. Each much prayerfully decide what their consciences dictate.
