When we consecrate our lives to serve God, we give 100% of everything we have and are. Romans 12:1, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Thus, the amount we sacrifice to serve God is always the same – our all.
How should we sacrifice? The next verse, Romans 12:2, instructs, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” verse 2. Our goal is to sacrifice our wills (most important), our time, our things, our money to obey and serve God.
Some churches measure their success by the amount of tithes, the number in attendance, the size of their church building, the way their minister lives – but none of these things are the way the Lord counts success.
The success of a ministry is not measured by the amount of sacrifice or by great results. The success is measured by whether you are obeying God and doing His will. When David was a shepherd composing psalms, did he know he was successfully writing part of the Bible? No. David was serving God with his talents from his heart. God prospered David’s work centuries later and He will do the same for the true church.
