Some Christians believe the USA will definitely be the primary target for a third war. They say that after this cruel third war, nothing will be left behind in the USA to eat, drink, or even live. Will God allow this? (United States)

The location of the final battle is Jerusalem, not the USA. Joel 3:12, 14, 16-17 (KJV), 12 “Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. … 16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem;…the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. 17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy,…”.

The valley of Jehoshaphat separates Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives. We learn more about this valley in Zechariah 14:2-4, 8-9 (NIV), 2 “I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it;… Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. 3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, … 8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem,… in summer and in winter. 9 The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name."

Yes, there will certainly be great tribulation around the world. Jesus said, "For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now–and never to be equaled again." Matthew 24:21 (NIV).  However, Armageddon is a preparation for Christ’s kingdom on earth. Daniel 2:44, “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed,… It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.”

Mankind will not need to endure this trouble for long. Jesus assured us, “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but…those days will be shortened.” Matthew 24:22 (NIV).  Finally, “On this mountain (Christ’s Kingdom on earth) the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine–the best of meats and the finest of wines. … 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 25:6,8 (NIV)
