Short Summary
The discourse outlines the historical progression of Jewish immigration to Palestine beginning in the late 19th century, highlighting challenges such as disease and geopolitical interruptions, as well as the systematic fulfillment of prophecies related to Israel. It discusses the identification of various nations and tribes mentioned in Ezekiel 38 and Psalms 83 in relation to modern geopolitical alliances, emphasizing the formation of eastern and western blocs poised for conflict involving Israel. The speaker reflects on recent miraculous defenses of Israel, the potential for future conflicts including nuclear war, and cautions about interpreting prophetic timelines while encouraging vigilance and open-mindedness toward differing views.
Long Summary
Detailed Summary of the Discourse on Jewish Immigration, Prophetic Interpretations, and Geopolitical Developments Related to Israel
Early Jewish Land Purchase and Settlement in Palestine (circa 1840-1878):
– Sir Moses Montefiore financially supported Jews in Palestine, mainly to aid their efforts rather than direct land purchase.
– Actual land buying began in 1878 at Petah Tikva (Petitva), with settlement starting on November 3, 1878.
– Early settlers mainly came from Jerusalem, not from foreign countries.
– The land purchased was mosquito-infested, causing malaria outbreaks that forced abandonment within about two years.
– Chemicals were later used to treat the swamp land, allowing resettlement; Petah Tikva is now Israel’s fifth-largest city.
Five Waves (Aliyot) of Jewish Immigration:
– Began in 1882, referred to as “five aliyot.”
– At that time, about 80 million Jews worldwide, with about 45% (~4 million) in Russia.
– First Aliyah (1882-1903): Mostly from East Europe.
– Second Aliyah (1904-1914): Mainly from Tsarist Russia; many immigrants were socialists and unpopular with the Tsar. Interrupted by WWI.
– Third Aliyah (post-Balfour Declaration, after 1917): About 50,000 Jews; faced challenges, including a problematic figure in 1923.
– Fourth Aliyah (1924-1928): Mostly from Europe; interrupted by the Great Depression.
– Fifth Aliyah (after Hitler’s rise to power): Jews fleeing Nazi Germany and Central Europe.
– Post-WWII saw Jews driven from Eastern Europe during the Cold War and Soviet collapse.
Modern Jewish Return and Challenges:
– Currently, over 46% of world Jewry has returned to Israel.
– Rising anti-Jewish sentiment is noted in Western Europe and parts of the West, including universities.
– Speculation about whether Jews are now being driven from Western countries, leaving Israel as their primary home.
– The discourse suggests that major world events since the 1870s have systematically benefited Israel.
Economic and Political Contexts:
– The long depression (1873-1890s) coincided with early Jewish land purchases and immigration.
– The Balfour Declaration (1917) declared Palestine as a Jewish homeland.
– The Great Depression and WWII caused Jewish displacement from Germany and Central Europe.
– Post-WWII geopolitical shifts (East vs. West, Soviet Union collapse) further influenced Jewish migration.
Biblical Prophecies and Identification of Tribes (Ezekiel 38-39, Genesis 10):
– Ezekiel 38: focuses on a coalition of tribes attacking Israel, linked to “Gog and Magog.”
– Genesis 10: outlines descendants of Japheth, Shem, and Ham, providing tribal identities for prophetic interpretation.
– Japheth’s descendants include:
– Gomer (divided into Ashkenaz—Germanic peoples, Riphath—Slavic peoples, and Togarmah—Turkic peoples).
– Magog (associated with the Russians, Scythians, Mongols, Kazakhs, Yakuts, and Siberian peoples).
– Meshech and Tubal identified with Armenians and Georgians.
– Persia corresponds to modern Iran, historically an enemy but now allied with Russia (Gog).
– Kush refers to North Africa west of Egypt; Morocco currently allied with Israel via Abraham Accords, not with eastern bloc.
– Discussion on natural alliances such as Germans (technology) and Russians (resources).
– Togarma includes Turkic peoples of Turkey and Central Asia, some shifting allegiance from West to East.
Eastern and Western Military Blocs (Ezekiel 38:13):
– Western bloc led by Sheba and Dedan (Arabian Peninsula), merchants of Tarshish (western Europe including Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, British Isles).
– Tarshish’s “young lions” possibly include Western European former colonies (Americas, Australia, New Zealand).
– The western bloc currently maintains working relations with Israel (pipeline through Israel).
– The eastern bloc consists of Russia (Magog), Armenia, Georgia, Iran, North Africa (except Morocco), with potential shifting alliances.
Prophetic Themes of Conflict and Divine Intervention:
– Ezekiel 38-39: The invasion of Israel by Gog and Magog will fail and be met with divine judgment, including fire upon Magog and the coastlands.
– Discussion on whether the “fire” could symbolize nuclear warfare.
– The Church (believers) likely to be removed (“raptured”) before these events begin.
– Post-conflict, Israel will utilize weapons technology including plastics for weapons frameworks (Ezekiel 39:9-10).
Three Ideologies Represented in End-Time Conflict (Typified by Old Testament Figures Gideon and Jephthah):
– Eastern Communists (Marxists).
– Islamicists.
– The “beast of Rome” representing institutionalized Christianity.
– These ideologies are inconsistent but potentially allied against Christians and Jews.
Psalm 83 and Related Tribal Identifications:
– Ten nations listed in Psalm 83 may correlate with end-time conflicts; includes Philistia (descended from Ham) and Tiras (Thrace).
– Battles in Judges (Gideon vs Midian, Sisera at Kishon) are types of Armageddon.
Recent Miracles and Military Events Involving Israel:
– 1948 War of Independence: Women’s ruse with rolling barrels and chains scared Jordanian tank crews, resulting in abandoned tanks.
– Recent missile and drone attacks by Iran and allies on Israel (April 13 and October 1): High interception rates with minimal Israeli casualties; one Palestinian casualty noted.
– These events demonstrate divine protection over Israel.
Future Geopolitical Expectations:
– Moscow expected to dominate Ukraine and grow more hostile to Israel.
– Saudi Arabia and Arabian neighbors may work more closely with Israel, motivated by fear of Iran.
– Africa is expected to side more with the neo-Soviet (Russian) bloc.
– Russia’s primary interest (the “spoil”) likely oil resources.
Cautions on Prophetic Interpretation and Dates:
– Precision in dating prophetic events is difficult and can lead to mistakes (e.g., 1914 WWI start date).
– Some interpret prophecies as fulfilled after the Church is complete, avoiding disproof but reducing urgency.
– Others interpret prophecies as unfolding in present times, allowing for testing and correction.
– Patience and tolerance for differing interpretations are encouraged.
Scriptural References Quoted or Paraphrased:
Genesis 10: Genealogy and identification of tribes (Japheth, Shem, Ham).
Ezekiel 38-39: Prophecy of Gog and Magog’s invasion and God’s judgment.
Psalm 83: Ten nations conspiring against Israel.
Amos 9:14-15: Promise of Israel’s restoration and permanence in their land:
> “I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. (Paraphrase of Amos 9:14-15, NIV)

Back in around 1840 and after Sir Moses Montefiore funded the Jews who were in Palestine for a lot of things. But as far as I’m able to tell, it wasn’t so much the buying of land as it was funding their efforts. But the buying of the land is what began in 1878, and that was at Petitva that was starting. Actually they started settling it in November 3rd of 1878.
And Guy Guy only I think was just weeks after that. Now the Jews that came to Petitva were from Jerusalem rather than foreign countries, and things didn’t convenient look conveniently work out because the fellow who allowed them to buy the land, that’s the head of the Ottoman Empire, sold them land that was mosquito infested. So within about two years the malaria caused them to abandon the community. But they brought in some chemicals to put over the swamp land and kill off the mosquitoes.
And so they resettled it, and now it is the fifth largest city in all of Israel.
The actual immigrations began in five ways that they call alias. The five alias, and I think we’ll go to the next slide for that.
That say I’m going to try one other thing here if I can.
That didn’t work, so I’ll try something else.
Okay, so there are these five alias that began in 1882, and now to begin with, about 90% of world Jewry was in Europe. I have seen that. I don’t know if it has been contested by others, but we’re starting with about 80 or about 8 million Jews in all of the world, and I think 45% of them are about 4, little less than 4 million were in one country, which was Russia.
So 1882 to 1903, most of the first alia came from East Europe, and then 1904 to 1914, that 10 years. Mostly they came from Tsarist Russia, and as some have noticed, most of them were socialists. They were not popular with the tsar.
And then it was interrupted for World War I. But the third Alia came mostly from Eastern Europe after the Belfor declaration.
And that had some problems then in 1923 with a fellow who promised to be for the Jews and turned out not to be at all. So we come to 1924, the fourth alia to 1928 they came mostly from Europe. The third alia brought in 50,000 Jews alone. Still more came from Europe in that period. But then there was an interruption because of the Great Depression.
And when Hitler came to power, that began the fifth Alia.
Now what’s been going on today, and that is today. Past 150 years has not been the chaos that this world generally sees it as, but instead it’s been systematic. Every major world event since the 1870s has been beneficial to Israel.
We have the first period, the 1873-1890s, was the long depression. They didn’t teach me this in school, but it’s a very. Was a very real thing. It had also helped the Watchtower movement because the opposition of the Watchtower movement at that time was too busy with their economic problems to put in a full resistance to it. But in that same period of long depression, the Jews bought land and began their immigration in World War I.
It wound up with a Balfour Declaration declaring Palestine to be a homeland for the Jews. Then came the Great Depression when the Jews were driven from Germany during World War II. They were driven not only from Germany, but all Central Europe.
Then since World War II, during this east versus West struggle and the fall of the Soviet Union to the Soviet disunion, the Jews were driven from Eastern Europe.
And of course we’ve had the pandemic and in which we’re going to watch and see are the Jews to be driven.
We’ve already seen the anti Jewish attitude in Western Europe and it’s building in this country like in the universities. So is it, does it mean that in our time we are watching the Jews being driven from the west now? There’s not much else to be driven from once you’ve gotten them out of Central Europe, out of Eastern Europe and out of the West. So once most of them are back in the land, by the way, we’re already up to more than 46% of all world Jewry is back in the land.
But once they’re back in the land, what will be left for the adversary to do?
And we don’t know what the dates of Armageddon will be, but I imagine probably in the next couple of decades. But that invasion will certainly backfire against those who are doing the invading.
So what do we have in prophecy?
Well, we see in the Ezekiel 38, the first 13 verses, a lot of tribes that are mentioned. So we need to go to Genesis 10 to identify these tribes that in Genesis 10 we find the sons.
Japheth is the elder, followed by Shem and then Ham, and among Japheth’s descendants, those tribes that split from Japheth. The first was Gomer. Okay, I’ll just side mention that for now. Ashkenaz, which is one of the three divisions of Gomer, is the Germanic peoples.
The second Rifoth from the Car. Rifoth, the Carpathian Mountains, the homeland of the Slavic peoples, and then Togarma, Thurgama in the Septuagint, from which we get our word Turk, The Turkic tribes. But then the second largest, almost as large as all of Gomer put together, was Magog. Now, it starts from a Hebrew word, sagab, which means to lift up.
And that which is lifted up is called a Gog. Gog in Hebrew means roof. That’s the part of the house that’s lifted up. In Hebrew, then, Magog means that which goes out from Gog. In Western languages, we say Gog.
In Eastern languages, they say Saka.
So the ancient tribe was the Saka or the Masakata. In places like Herodotus and other ancient histories, they’re called the Massagetti. Nasakata. That’s where we get our word Scythian from. So it describes the great Russians as the largest tribe of Gog or Magog.
Then there’s the Samoyed peoples in the north of Russia, the Mongols. By the way, you may notice that Lamza in places translates Magog as Mongol. So they’re part of the same tribe. To Kazakhs, Kazakh means free man. But it’s Kasaka, like the Sakas and the Uzbekis, the Koreans and their history.
They came out of Mongolia. The Yakut tribe in Eastern Siberia call themselves Saka, and then there’s the Eskimos, even in Alaska. So just as a side note, it was the Scythians from the Caspian Sea area that invaded the area north of the Black Sea and split Gomer into those three tribes, Ashkenaz, Rifat and Togarmah. That’s recorded Both in Genesis 10:3 and by Herodotus as well.
Well, I don’t want to spend the whole time on that. So we will go to Ezekiel 38. Who are the eastern block to be. Well, the Gog is the head of Magog, the high people. The capital originally was in the Caucasus Mountains. Since that time, it has moved north, stepwise.
So we identify them with the great Russians. Then are listed Meshech and Tubal. They are the Armenians and the Georgians. The Georgians call themselves Cartevillian, from the Cara. Tubal, the rocks or mountains of Tubal.
The Armenians. Here in Glendale, California, we have the largest Armenian population of any city outside of Armenia.
Now it says Persia. That’s the ancient name, which now they call themselves Iran. They were for 25 centuries, mortal enemies of the Russians. But now, since 1889, with the overthrow of the Shah, they have allied themselves with Gog or with the great Russians. Kush is sub Saharan Africa, but is North Africa, but not Egypt.
It’s everywhere. North Africa, west of Egypt. Now, Morocco is not yet allied with the eastern bloc. They have signed the Abraham Accords with Israel. So we’ll have to watch on that and see what happens.
Then there’s Gomer. That’s the Germanic and Slavic peoples that are not yet allied with the Russians. However, it’s quite plausible because the Russians have the resource in their communities, but they do not have the technology to exploit them. The Germans have the technology, but not the resources. So there is sort of a natural gain for the two being on the same side.
And again, Togarma, not only the Turkic tribe of Turkey, but also Turkic, Turkestan and some others, and we’re watching it in our day now, today, changing sides from the western block to the eastern block.
So let’s take a look now at the western block, and it’s down in verse 13.
So we have Sheba and Dedan. They are first mentioned. That they are mentioned first suggests that they are to be at the head of the western block. That’s Arabia. We see them in two tribes descended from Kush and descended from Abraham.
Genesis 10:7 descended from Kush and in 25, 3 from Abraham. So evidently this mixed tribe in the Arabian peninsula is to be at the head of the western block. The merchants of Tareshish, that would be the Celtic countries, those would be the countries of westernmost Europe. Southwestern, the Spanish peninsula used to be known as Tarisis, and they, when they build a colony on the northeast part of the Mediterranean, called it Tarsus, hence Paul or Saul of Tarsus.
So the western coastlands of Europe would go from Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, the British Isles on the western block side. Now, the young lions of Tarshish suggest that’s West Europe’s former colonies, the Americas, and quite likely Australia and New Zealand as well. Now, I think it’s brother George Tabak has pointed out some decades ago that the western bloc does not say, art thou gone to take a spoil, but art thou come to take a spoil? And that sort of suggests that they have some kind of a working relationship with Israel, that the time that the eastern block invades Israel probably invades not only Israel, but its immediate neighbors as well.
So we are seeing these blocks forming today in our time. We have some questions that we would like to resolve, at least in our own minds, and for this we have to be watching. When will Israel be dwelling securely, or at least apparently be Dwelling securely. We see that in Ezekiel 38, verses 10 through 14, the Western Block today does have a working relationship with Israel because the pipeline from Arabia to the west goes right through Israel.
Now in verse 21, how will every man’s sword be against his brother?
We might have a thought on that. We have two types in the Old Testament. One is Gideon had three enemies and then Jeffa also had three enemies. In Gideon’s case, it would suggest that we identify these three enemies. Are they perhaps the same as the three unclean spirits in Revelation 16?
If we look at it today, there are three. Three great ideologies in the world today. Will this continue to be the case at the threshold of Armageddon? But that would be the Eastern Communists, the Marxists, that would be the Islamicists, and that would be the the beast of Rome, the so called Christian beast.
These would be the chief ideologies in the world today so far. Seems like they are developing that way, and if we look at Jephthah and his three enemies, two of the enemies first gang together to destroy the third one, and the third one does appear to be the one that would be picturing Rome or institutionalized Christianity generally. Do we see this taking place?
Are the Marxists and the Islamicists harmonious with each other? Are they consistent with each other? No, they’re utterly inconsistent. But they seem to be ganging together to destroy all that is called Christians and Jews.
Now we get to Genesis. Excuse me. Ezekiel 39, verse 6. There’s this fire on Magog first and then on the isles or the coastlands. That would seem to be the western block, especially westernmost Europe is loaded with coastlands from Italy through Spain all the way up the coast.
Does that fire mean thermonuclear fire? Unfortunately, my guess is that they don’t build those things just to play tiddlywings, and it does appear, since the fire is on Magog first, that it will be the western block that strikes bat, that when Magog seems to be so powerful that he can have his way and invade Israel and its immediate neighbors, the only thing that the west sees left for it to do is to use its nuclear weapons. Now time will tell. Chances are though, the Church will be gone just at the moment when that begins.
Now how will Israel afterwards makes fire of the Weapons? That’s chapter 38. That should be probably 39, verses 9 to 10. Yes, it should be. The technology of weaponry in the modern age is to go to that which is strong.
Well, what’s stronger than metals and metals don’t burn very well. However, if you fire rockets, you want the framework for those weapons, the frameworks of the rockets to be strong in bending, and so plastics seem to do that much better because they have a lower density. You can make them thicker, and so for less weight, you can build the weapons with plastics.
And many of those plastics burn very well. That may be how the fires can be made.
More could be said about that.
Now, how will all this war glorify the Lord? Jehovah? We’ll wait and see on that. But it would seem that when man decides no, he cannot resolve things himself, he cannot win that he will turn to the Lord, because there is nothing left to turn to. So let’s go on to Psalms 83.
Just briefly, are there any nations here that are not descended from Shem and. Yes, there are two. Philistia, the Philistines, according to Genesis 10, 6 and then 13 to 14. They are from Ham through Egypt, Mitsrai Jews or Egyptian Jews, and Tire. That’s the tiras of Genesis 10, verse 2.
We call it Tiras or Thrace, Thracia.
And their colonies would include Tyre on the east coast of the Mediterranean and on the west coast of Italy. We call it the Tyrrhenian Sea. The waters of Tyre. What’s typified by the battles against Midian, by Gideon, against Sisera at the river Kishon? All of the climactic battles in the Book of Judges are typical of Armageddon.
Do you think of an exception now? Do the Ten nations of Psalms 83 make a tumult before Armageddon or at Armageddon? That’s a question to be considered, and some think yes, some think no. Will wait and see.
Do the 10 nations relate to the 10 nations listed in Ezekiel 38? Well, perhaps we will wait and see. There.
Now let’s go further. There are the modern miracles for which we don’t really have enough time to talk now. But the wars of 18 or, excuse me, 1948. That’s independence. 56, 1967, 1973.
Each of them had dramatic miracles. I’ll name1 for 1948. The Jews did not have the tanks and the great weapons, but in Jerusalem the heads trained the women to take barrels and chains and roll them down the streets, and it sounded like it was heavy armaments coming. The Jordanian soldiers in the tanks were scared witless.
They jumped out of their tanks and ran for it. Some of them even left the tanks with the keys in it running. So Israel got the tanks.
We’ve seen them Last year, in our own time, two remarkable miracles. On April 13, Iran launched and its allies launched 300 missiles and drones against Israel. 99% were intercepted. There’s another group that’s from Israel that says only about 86%, maybe 84% were intercepted, and of course those who were going to land in the desert doing no harm, they didn’t bother to intercept those.
But how many Israelis were killed? As far as we know, no Israelis were killed. A few were slightly wounded, but not many that. On October 1, Iran launched 200 ballistic missiles itself against Israel. How many Israelis were killed?
How many Palestinians? It is said that there was one Israeli that was indirectly killed and I’m not sure how that was indirect, but yes, there was one Palestinian that was killed. It was one who was outside, a young fellow that was outside just having a joy festival over the ballistic missiles coming in against Israel, and he was killed by the fragments of one of the missiles being intercepted. How appropriate.
There’s not time really to talk about a number of other interesting things here. But we should conclude with Amos 9, verses 14 and 15. I will plant them again in their land, and they shall be no more plucked up out of their land, and saith Jehovah, so the Lord has spoken.
Our expectations probably that Moscow or the Soviet reunion will subject the Ukraine, wish it weren’t so, become more hostile to Israel and increase in its power.
Arabia or Saudi Arabia will persuade Israel’s close neighbors to work with Israel. Maybe because they’re all afraid of Iran, which is not Arabic by the way. They are from Japheth Madai, the Medes, non Egyptian. Africa will progressively take the neo Soviet side. We’re watching a part of that happening right now.
What’s the spoil that Moscow seeks to control? Perhaps it is oil. One brother used to say, take the word spoil and knock off the first two letters. It could be most important for you and for me as we see the acceleration of Jew hatred around the world and in the countries that we live in. Just stay off that bandwagon because the Lord has said which side he is on.
And one last thing, and that is we need to have some cautions, interpretations that sometimes we can calculate a date with particulars precision, but it won’t necessarily justify whatever we think that the debt date means. An example of that would have been 1914, when even the beginning of World War I was off by either a couple of months earlier starting or a couple of months later. I wouldn’t criticize anybody in back at that time if I’d been back there, I couldn’t have calculated the date any more precisely. Now, although we might be absolutely sure how prophecies are going to be fulfilled, let’s just keep our eyes open and see what it is that happens.
Now, some like to interpret as prophecies happening after the church is complete, and that has an advantage. If you prophesy what’s happening after the church is complete, you can never be proven wrong.
But if we prophesy, if we see, try to understand the prophecies as to what’s going on on in our time, we can be proven wrong, and so that’s a good test, and if we’ve been mistaken to degree before, and I have on at least two occasions been partly mistaken, it helps me to be patient with somebody who has a different interpretation.
So, Brother Michael, over to you.
