Long Summary
Detailed Summary of the Discourse on Revelation 14:3 and Related Scriptures
Theme Text and Context
– The convention theme text is Revelation 14:3:
*“And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.”*
– The term “song” here is broader than music; it symbolizes a joyful message or testimony, notably the gospel message of God’s loving-kindness (Psalm 40:3).
– Those who have experienced God’s grace and joy in Christ sing not only with lips but live lives that are continual songs of praise.
Revelation 14:1-5 Overview
– John sees the Lamb (Jesus) standing on Mount Zion with 144,000 who have the Father’s name on their foreheads.
– The 144,000 are described as virgins (symbolizing purity and separation from false religious systems), followers of the Lamb, redeemed as first fruits to God.
– They have no guile and are without fault before God’s throne.
– The Lamb is clearly the Lord Jesus Christ; the 144,000 represent the “little flock” of faithful saints sealed with understanding and the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 1:21-22; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13).
Sealing of the 144,000
– Revelation 7:1-4 shows four angels restraining the winds until God’s servants are sealed on their foreheads.
– The sealing represents intellectual and spiritual enlightenment—knowledge of “present truth” that separates true believers from Babylon (the false religious system).
– This sealing and separation fulfill Revelation 18:4’s call: *“Come out of her, my people.”*
– The seven last plagues and the loosing of the four winds refer symbolically to the great time of trouble beginning in 1914, marking the end of Gentile times and purification of God’s people.
The Voice and the Harpers
– The “voice from heaven” is the voice of God the Father, the same voice heard at Jesus’ baptism, the Transfiguration, and the conclusion of His ministry.
– The harpers with harps recall Psalm 137:1-4, where Israelites in Babylon captivity hung their harps on willows, unable to sing the Lord’s song in a strange land.
– During the Dark Ages, true worship was largely lost, but at the Gospel Age’s end, the “new song” was restored to the faithful.
The “New Song” Explained
– Though called a “new song,” it is the ancient Song of Moses and the Lamb (Revelation 15:2-3):
*“Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”*
– The 144,000 sing this song, representing victory over the beast (false systems) and standing on a “sea of glass mingled with fire” — symbolizing peace above the turmoil of the world.
– The “harps of God” (10-stringed instruments) symbolize the Word of God (Old and New Testaments), finely tuned to produce harmony in faith and doctrine (Psalm 144:9).
Symbolism of the Four Beasts and 24 Elders
– The four beasts or living ones (Revelation 4:7) are interpreted as cherubim symbolizing God’s attributes:
– Lion: Justice
– Calf/Bullock: Sacrifice and power
– Man’s face: Love and wisdom (Hosea 11:4)
– Flying eagle: Foresight and divine vision
– The 24 elders represent the testimony of the prophets—clothed in purity (white garments) and divine authority (golden crowns).
– Their prophecies point toward God’s kingdom and future blessings.
Learning and Singing the Song
– Only the anointed 144,000 can learn and sing this song (Reprint 42:36).
– Learning the song is a lifelong study involving:
– Studying the Scriptures (2 Timothy 2:15-16)
– Developing Christlike character
– Following the teachings of the “seventh messenger” (Brother Russell) who unveiled present truth and prophecy fulfillment.
– Singing the song involves rejoicing in the gospel message despite opposition, waiting patiently for the Kingdom.
Characteristics of the 144,000
– They are “virgins” — pure, undefiled by false religious systems.
– Follow the Lamb wherever He goes (2 Corinthians 6:4-8), enduring trials with patience, love, and righteousness.
– They are called the “first fruits” (1 Corinthians 15:23), the first to be resurrected and joint heirs with Christ.
Content of the Song (Revelation 15:3-4)
– The song praises God’s works, justice, and holiness.
– It acknowledges God as King of saints and calls all nations to worship Him because His judgments are manifest.
– The song accords with both Law and Gospel.
The “Strange Work” of God
– Isaiah 28:20-21 describes the Lord’s “strange work”—His permission of evil and death as part of His plan.
– Though difficult to understand, these divine acts are just and merciful, providing the ransom through Christ’s sacrifice.
– The “times of restitution” (Acts 3:19-21) point to the restoration of mankind and the earth to their original perfect state.
Future Promises and Worship
– The song looks forward to the millennial age when:
– All nations will worship God (Isaiah 2:2-4; Haggai 2:6-7)
– The dead will be resurrected (John 5:28-29)
– God’s law will be written in hearts under the new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
– Death, sorrow, and evil will be removed (Isaiah 25:7-9; Isaiah 65:24)
– Those who reject God’s mercy will face second death (Acts 3:23).
Encouragement to the Faithful
– Believers are encouraged to keep their “harps” finely tuned—meaning to maintain faith, knowledge, and character.
– The song of Moses and the Lamb is a message of hope and joy even amid trials.
– Psalm 149:5-9 and Isaiah 38:20 emphasize continual joyful praise to God despite adversity.
– The Lord rejoices over His people with singing (Zephaniah 3:17), and faithful Christians will hear His song at the end of their journey.

Summary Conclusion:
The discourse explains the symbolic meaning of the 144,000 in Revelation 14:3 as the anointed faithful “little flock” who have been sealed with present truth and the Spirit, enabling them to sing the “new song” — the restored gospel message of redemption through Christ. This song encompasses praise for God’s works, justice, and mercy, looking forward to the ultimate restoration of mankind and earth in the millennial kingdom. The faithful are called to lifelong study, character development, and joyful proclamation of God’s truth amid opposition, assured of their reward and participation in God’s kingdom.

Now today we’ve been assigned the theme text of the convention from Revelation 14:3, and they sung as it were, a new song before the throne and before the four beasts and the elders, and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty four and four thousand which were redeemed from the earth. Now from reprint 2232. The pastor tells us that the word song has a wider meaning than simply a musical cadence.
Is used in the Scriptures and elsewhere to indicate a joyful message of any kind. For instance, we say, referring to the gospel, the knowledge of the divine.
Thou hast put a new song in my mouth, even the loving kindness of our God, and it is a fact that those who have tasted that the Lord is gracious, those who have received the joy which no man can take from them, those who have tasted of the grace of God in Christ will not only rejoice and literally sing musical songs with their lips, but they will also rejoice to have their future their entire life, a song of praise and thanksgiving unto God. End of quote. Now, as we study Revelation 14:3, we need to see the context in which this is given in symbolic language to John by our Lord. We’ll read verses one through five.
And I looked and lo, a lamb stood on the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty four thousand having his Father’s name written in their foreheads, and I heard a voice from heaven, as a voice of many waters, and as a voice of a great thunder, and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps, and they sung as it were a new song before the throne and before the four beasts and the elders, and no man can learn that song but the 144,000 which were redeemed from the earth.
These are they which were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whither he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lamb, and in their mouth was found no guile, for they are without fault before the throne of God. First we see the symbolism as found throughout the Book of Revelation.
A lamb is standing before the Mount Zion with 144,000 others who have their Father’s name written in their foreheads. Well, it’s easy to determine who the Lamb is. None other than our Lord. Those with him are the complete number of the members of the little flock. They bear the name of the Heavenly Father by obedience to their covenant of sacrifice, and are anointed and granted a measure of the Holy Spirit to understand the deep things and plans of the heavenly Father, and note they are before the throne and not in it which to my mind is a picture of the saints and their proclamations.
This side the veil, as we read in 2nd Corinthians 1:21,22 now he which stablish us with you is Christ, and hath anointed us is God, who hath sealed us and given us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts, and in 1 Corinthians 1:2, 12, 13 now we have received not the Spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches teacheth. Comparing spiritual things with spiritual those of this little flock are sealed in their foreheads intellectually with a clear apprehension of the truth not being in darkness of the world. Those not having the gift of the Holy Spirit have no understanding of the truth.
The Scriptures they are blinded. For those of us fully consecrated spirit begotten, and living up to our covenant of sacrifice during the time of trouble since 1874, and more particularly since 1914, have a knowledge which gives us peace of mind, knowing that we are kept by the power of the Lord.
We read in Revelation 7:1 4 and after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor the sea, nor nor any tree, and I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God, and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, hurt not the earth, neither the sea nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of God in our their foreheads, and I heard the number of them that were sealed, and there were sealed 140 and 4,000 of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Now this seventh chapter of Revelation relates to the gathering of the true saints, the wheat out of Babylon, the nominal Christian system, primarily papacy and her daughter systems.
This occurred primarily during the harvest of that system before the loosing of the four winds, the great time of trouble spoken of by Daniel. Well, did this sealing a knowledge of present truth have the effect of separation as stated in Revelation 18:4? And I heard another voice from heaven saying, Come out of her my people, that be not partakers of her sins, and that receive not of her plagues. The seven last Plagues were poured upon Babylon and her daughter systems and had the effect of releasing the true wheat from the captivity of that false system of worship. It was at this time the nominal system was spewed out of the mouth of the Lord, as we Read in Revelation 3:16 so then, because thou art lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Now these plagues were poured out upon that system, but were the four winds released. To my understanding both the plagues and the four winds were loosed. By 1914, the end of the Gentile times and the beginning of the great time of trouble spoken of by Daniel, the lord as his second presence in 1874 chose a faithful servant, whom he made wise with a correct understanding of the times and seasons of the plan of the ages. Brother Russell was that servant and presented thousands of pages explaining in detail the Scriptures to produce the sealing the intellectual understanding and knowledge of present truth. Thus gathering the wheat into the gospel garner going on to Revelation 14:2.
I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters and the voice of great thunder and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps.
Now this voice from heaven is the same voice that was heard by our Lord at his baptism, the same voice that was on the Mount Mount of Transfiguration, and the same voice at the conclusion of his ministry. That voice came from the Heavenly Father. Now the voice of the harpers reminds us of Psalm 137:1 4. By the rivers of Babylon there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song, and they wasted us required of us mirth, saying, sing us one of those songs of Zion. Well, how shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?
The song, although relating to the captivity of Israel in Babylon, has a deeper significance relating to the fulfillment of this prophecy. During the dark ages of the world’s history, the song in the Scriptures was largely lost, while the true members of the little flock were held captive by Papi Pegasi. Well, even though they were able to hum a few notes, many of the joyful sounds were lost. It was at the end of the Gospel age Note in Revelation 14:3. The words, as it were, a new song.
Read it again. Revelation 14:3 they sung as it were a new song before the throne and before the four beasts and the elders, and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty four thousand which were redeemed from the earth. But is it really a new song? No, it is the song of Moses and the Lamb, the same song accompanied with harps as given in Revelation 15:2 and 3.
And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire, and them that had gotten victory over the beast and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God, and they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb. Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are thy ways, Thou King of saints.
Now these are the true followers of the Lamb, who are separate, if not in fact, but in spirit, from the influences of Babylon and her daughter. Systems of nominal Christendom, who have gotten the victory over the beast in his image. They are said to stand on a sea of glass mingled with fire. The sea is a symbol of restless masses of people during a time of trouble. Fire.
These victors are above the troubled masses on glass or in other words, they see and experience some of the trouble. However, they are at peace, calm, untroubled, knowing by faith that nothing can harm them unless permitted by the Lord. They have the harps of God strung and in tune. What are the harps? Well, they are the 10 stringed instrument to accompany the singing, namely the Old and the New Testaments, the word of God.
The harp must be finely tuned to produce a harmonious melody, as we read in Psalm 144. 9. I will sing a new song unto thee, O God, upon a psaltery and an instrument of 10 strings will I sing praises unto thee. Yes, this song. It is the old, old story of the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world, as related to us by John in John 1:29.
Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Yes, it is the Lamb of God which will establish his kingdom to overthrow all evil and the reign of sin and death for those whom he lived and died for. This story, as the psalmist says, became twisted and warped and forgotten. We wept by the rivers of Babylon. Yes, superstition, error, and the doctrines of devils replaced this beautiful song.
For with the presence of the Lord and recovery of the truth, this song became, as it were, a new song. But no, it’s not a new song. It’s the old, old story. I was brought to our attention by the theme hymn for this convention, the story that never grows old. Reading again psalm or Revelation 14:3 and a song as it were, a new song before the throne, before the four beasts, the elders.
And no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty four thousand which were redeemed from the earth.
Now who are these four beasts, or more particularly living ones, if you look at the translation?
And who are the elders which we find throughout revelation to be 24 in number?
Well, that’s a good question, for the pastor’s writings does not give us very much to go on, except a very early reprint, not by him which interpreted these living ones to be the four attributes of the Heavenly Father, that of justice, love, power, and wisdom. Each of these beasts or living ones are described in Revelation 4:7. The first beast was like a lion the second beast was like a calf or a bullock the third beast had the face of a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. Now these beasts or living ones in the early reprint equate these four to four cherubims, representative of the attributes of power, the lion justice, the bullock sacrificed on our behalf, on behalf of Adam and his posterity, love, the face or appearance of a man, reminding us of Hosea 11:4, drawn with the cords of man, with the bands of love and wisdom, the far seeing eye of a flying eagle. Well, these are my thoughts.
I’ll leave your considerations to your study of these interpretation of these beasts. Again, the 24 elders from this early reprint are believed to be the testimony of the prophets. They are spoken of as being clothed in white raiment, that is purity with crowns of gold, that is divine authority. Their prophecies pointed to the kingdom of God and the future blessings it would bring to all mankind through the redemption by a seed of promise and a new covenant that would put the Lord’s law in their inward parts, a kingdom that would restore life and restore vitality and bring joy and happiness to all. We are told in Revelation 14:3 that no man could learn that song but the 144,000.
Well, have you learned that song? Reprint 42:36 we quote from we who hope to be members of the bride, class, and joint heirs with him, are expected to learn to sing the song of Moses, servant, and the song of the Lamb. For worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and might, and honor and glory and blessings, and they sang as it were, sang a new song before the throne, and no man could learn that song except the anointed and the Lord will be with him in Mount Zion, the kingdom.
Realizing that this song is the tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. We are correspondingly interested to know to what extent we have learned to what extent can we sing it now we find indeed that it is a life study to learn this lesson. We rejoice in the privilege to bear witness of our God to all those who have ears to hear, even though doing so brings reproaches, frowns, and opposition. Our patience and our faith are to continue, and we are to wait for the kingdom in its beauty and the glorious change in ourselves, to tell others more effectively than ever the blessed tidings. End of quote.
How do we learn this song? Through study of his Word, and the development of character and likeness of our Lord, putting into practice those things we have learned, and where we have learned him from the seventh messenger, through our returned Lord, as the pastor tells us of the experiences of those having read the volumes, some have read them as much as a dozen times, and have found some new rich gem. For they are the Scriptures topically arranged for us. For the God’s word is a is new every morning, lamentations 3:23 his compassions fail not, we are told in second Timothy 2:15 and 16 study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth but shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase unto more ungodliness. Now this song is sung by 144,000 the Overcoming members of the body of Christ, redeemed from the earth, purchased with the precious blood of Christ in Revelation 14:4.
These are they which were not defiled with women, for they are virgins these are they which follow the Lamb, whatsoever he goeth These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lamb.
Those singing this song are not defiled they are separate from the world, and pure in heart they are virgins, in the sense of being separate from the ecclesiastical systems of error. These follow the leanings of the Lord, whithersoever he may lead, as the apostle Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:4,8. But in all things, of proving ourselves as ministers of God, in much patience in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings and fastings, by pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by love unfeigned by the word of truth, by the power of God, and by the armor of righteousness on the right hand, and on the left, by honor and dishonor by evil report and good report, as deceivers and yet true. These are the first fruits, the elect of God, and joint heirs with the Lamb, the first to be raised from the dead, and a term implying that there will be those to come afterwards. As we are told of the resurrection in First Corinthians 15:13, every man in his own order Christ the first fruits afterward they that are Christ at his coming.
What do these hundred and forty four thousand sing? The gist of this song is given to us in Revelation 15:3 and 4. They sing the song of Moses, servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are thy ways, Thou King of saints, who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name, for thou art holy for all the nations shall come and worship before thee, for thy judgments are made manifest.
The song or preaching of these victors is in perfect accord with the law and with the Gospel message. This message is the same taught the types given by Moses as well as those taught by our Lord. The description of the overcomers indicate that the class who proclaimed proclaim these things are few. These are those who sing this song. Subsequent to 1846, the time of the Evangelical alliance, when the sanctuary those true saints would be cleansed, that is free from the errors of papacy.
The manatext for the day of our on our convention program is John 8:36 if the son therefore make you free, ye shall be free indeed. As noted by the pastor regarding this freedom from error of his day, the truths of the Scriptures induce individual liberty among Christian people, enabling them to rise above the sectarian limitations to a clearer knowledge of God and a fuller degree of separation from the world his spirit and methods.
This freedom enables the true saints to sing. Clearly the song is not sung by the entire church, for a majority were in their graves waiting their resurrection. Now these victors are primarily those of the living members of the Philadelphia stage of the church prior to 1878 and those living members who would comprise the Laodicene or last, the seventh stage of the Gospel Age Church after 1874. The Lord’s second presence and the truth meet in due season. He will release through that faithful and wise servant.
The song they sing is accompanied with the harps of God, played in harmony with singing mainly to the praise of the heavenly Father, sometimes used to aid in relieving the stress of life. You recall an excellent player of the harp was David, when he soothed who was called to soothe the melody of Saul, when troubled by an evil spirit, 1st Samuel 16:16 his skill with the harp is reflected in many psalms he wrote, to which no doubt he played this instrument, one notable being Psalm 33:1 4 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous for praise is comely for the upright. Praise the Lord with harp, and sing unto him with psaltery and an instrument of ten strings sing unto him a new song Play skilfully with a loud noise. For the word of the LORD is right, and all his works are done. In truth, the song given to us in Revelation 14:3 and 4 is broken into four notes.
And they sang the song of Moses, the Lamb of the servant of God, and the song of the of the Lamb, saying, one Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty. Two Just and true are thy ways, thou king of saints. Three who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name and four for thou art for all the nations shall come and worship before thee, for thy judgments are made manifest.
Great and marvelous are thy works, the Lord God Almighty. When we consider the work of the Lord, we see the wise purpose of that work which others consider and question. Why does God permit evil? Why would God allow death in the first place? What about the dilemma man finds himself in today?
The trouble with the governing nations, the various factions trying their best to control the events of the world to no avail. Terrorists creating havoc not only abroad, but within our own sphere of living. What about Christendom? The demise of the church systems as they once had influence in the world are now nothing more than sound posts. When we consider these issues, it brings to mind the writing of Isaiah 28:20 21 for the bed is shorter than a man can stretch himself on, and the covering narrower than he can wrap himself in.
For the Lord shall rise up in Mount Perazim and he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act. Well, have you ever been in a bed shorter than you are? You never can stretch out. You’re never comfortable. This represents a creed.
Beds of Christendom built upon the false doctrines of men and not of God. These are the covers that are narrow. Never too able to satisfy the true Christian. The knowledge of God and his plan is limited. Doctrines of hell, Trinity life and death are repulsive and dishonoring to the heavenly Father.
These are the conditions that drove the true Christian from Babylon and her daughter systems. The Lord is doing his work, his strange work. What is that Work well the setting up of his kingdom of righteousness. Those having the finely tuned harps and learning that song can see this work in progress.
Just and true are thy ways, thou king of saints. O more properly righteous and true are thy ways, O King of nations. Yes, this strange work and strange act is the permission of evil and the penalty of death. Why does mankind die? With a finely tuned harp we realize just condemnation of disobedience and the sentence of death on Adam and his entire race and the subsequent reign of evil.
God in his mercy and in his lines of justice, provided a ransom for Adam, and through the act, the strange act in many minds of allowing his only begotten son to suffer and die, he thereby secured the price to release the race from this condemnation be testified in due time.
Although we don’t see the benefits of the ransom as it will affect mankind, we do see with the eye of faith some of the Results since the second presence of the Lord in 1874 the times of restitution promised in Acts 3:19 2021 repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord, and ye shall send Jesus Christ was before preached unto you, whom the heavens must receive until the times of the restitution of all things which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. Restitution implies restoration. When you restore something, you bring it back to its former state, as in the case of my old cars, beginning with a rusty hulk, you disassemble it, clean it, and put it back together to bring it to the condition it was originally produced. Now with the Lord, this work is more comprehensive, for it includes not only the restoration of man to his former state that Adam enjoyed perfection of mind, body, and character, but also the perfection of the earth to that of Eden before the fall. We look at the technology and inventions of our day, which relieve mankind of the sweat of brow.
These are what we call restitution blessings. This strange act of restitution will in its entirety affect every effect of our life. It will bring understanding it will bring an end of to Adamic death. It will bring an end to the permission of evil. It will bring righteousness which shall flourish.
Now the third note of this song is, who shall not fear thee, O Lord God, Lord, and glorify thy name, for Thou art holy, or more differently from another translation, who shall not fear, O Lord, and glorify thy name, since thou alone are bountiful as strange as it may seem to the common man, every act of our heavenly Father is an act of favor. The sentence of death and the permission of evil are overruled for good, who shall not glorify thy God when realization of these benefits are manifested before the entire world, as described in the various scriptures in 1 Timothy 2, 3:6 for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who will have all men to be saved to come to a knowledge of the truth. There is one God and one media between God and men. The man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time in Isaiah 11:9 they shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, and for as the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea, and Isaiah 26, nine with my soul I have desired thee in the night yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early.
For when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness, and Isaiah 25:7,9 and he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations, and he will swallow up death and victory and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off the faces, and the rebuke of his people he will take away from off the earth. For the LORD has spoken it, and it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God we have waited for him, and he will save us this is the lord, we have waited for him, and he will be glad and rejoice in his salvation, as all mankind will rejoice the realization of the benefits of the ransom price provided on their behalf, and made effective for them through the new covenant and a righteous mediator, as we Read in Jeremiah 31, 31, 34 Behold the days cometh, saith the Lord, thou make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant that I made with them, their fathers in that day that I took them from the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which my covenant they break, although I was a husband unto them, saith the lord, but this shall be the covenant that I’ll make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and will be their God, and they shall be my people, and they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for they shall all know me from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord, for I will forgive their iniquity and remember their sin. No more can you see the close proximity of the Lord in relationship to mankind during the millennial age. He will read the desire of the heart before it finds expression in words. Say in Isaiah 65:24 it shall come to pass that before they call I will answer before they are yet speaking I will hear no more evil, nor the ability to hurt.
For the former things are passed away. We read in reprint 2712 but there is still another feature of this song. It is glorious, although it pertains not to the things that are past, but to the things yet to come. It declares, who shall not reverence thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name. It looks forward to the time when this great redemption accomplished by the blood of the Lamb shall be made available to every member of the human family.
It looks forward to the glorious millennial age, to the time when, under the Divine providence, the knowledge of the Lord, essential to the faith, and to the acceptance of his favor and mercy through Christ, shall be extended to every creature who indeed will not reverence the Lord and glorify his name. Surely, as the Scriptures have declared, at that time every knee shall bow, and shall every tongue shall confess, and while this bowing and confessing may at first be compulsory, and not with a volition of the heart, yet the Scriptures assure us that ultimately all will not come, that all who will not come to heart, harmony with the Lord and with his gracious arrangements and provisions, shall be cut off from amongst the people in second death. Acts 3:23 the last note of our song for all nations shall come and worship before thee, for the judgments are made manifest. Or more from another translation for all the nations shall come and worship in thy presence, because thy righteous acts are manifested.
All nations will include not only all the nations then living, but but all the nations of the dead. For the promise given to Abraham is in thee, and in thy seed shall all nations, all the families of the earth, be blessed. The righteous acts, those strange acts, will be manifested for all to see. It will mean the raising of the dead to life here on the earth again, as spoken by our lord in John 5:28 29 marvel not at this, for the hour is coming in which all that are in the grave shall hear his voice, and shall come forth. They that have done good unto a resurrection of life, nay, that have done evil unto a resurrection of judgment.
The song is played on the harp of God, is summarized in the Word restitution, restitution of all things. When all nations shall come to realize the love and mercy of the heavenly Father in all these righteous acts, they will then will truly worship and love him, as we do now. We are told in Isaiah 2, 2, 4 it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow into it, and many people shall go and say, Come ye, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem and he shall judge among men the nations, and shall rebuke many people, and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into and nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.
The new covenant will be inaugurated with natural Israel, and gradually the whole world will become attached to Israel as part of Abraham’s earthly seed. We read in Haggai 2, 6, 7 for thus saith the LORD of hosts, yet once it is a little while and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and dry land, and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with the glory of the LORD of hosts. Well, how is your harp? Is it in tune? Are you rejoicing the song of Moses and the lamb, the song of your faith?
Few are able to sing this song. Rejoice and be glad that you are one who is able to sing with fellow servants of the cross, and I’m sure you do. In Psalm 149, please. 5, 8.
Let the saints be joyful in glory. Let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people, to bind their kings with chains, and their nevills of the fetters of iron, to execute upon them the judgment written. This honor have all the saints Praise ye the Lord.
And in Isaiah 38:20 the Lord was ready to save me. Therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord, and in Psalm 42, 42 and 3 he brought me up out of a horrible pit, and out of my miry clay he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. He hath put a new song in my mouth. Even the praise unto our God many shall see it, and fear and trust that the Lord Trust the Lord in the Lord and reprint 4201 the pastor tells us he has not only lifted our feet from the horrible pit and the miry clay, but he placed them upon a rock.
Christ Jesus, yea more, he has put a new song in our mouths, even the loving kindness of our God. He not only forgave our sins, but accepted us in Jesus and invited us to joint heirship with Christ. He not only gave us exceeding great and precious promises to cheer our hearts in the wilderness journey, but he has in reservation for us things exceeding great and precious, of which he has given us a glimpse or a foretaste through the Holy Spirit and earnest of our inheritance. You will not be the only ones to sing, for we are told that the Lord will sing to us at the end of our pilgrim way. Be faithful, dear brethren, that you can hear that song we Read in Zephaniah 3:17.
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty he will save he will rejoice over thee with joy he will rest in his love he will joy over thee with singing. May the Lord at his blessing and overrule anything set amiss.
