In a large sense the whole universe is God’s house, and the different planes and of life are the different “rooms.”
My Father’s house: Again, in a large sense the whole universe is God’s house, and God Himself abides in the height of the heavens. “For he looked down from his holy height; from heaven the Lord gazed upon the earth…” Psalm 102:19
Are many mansions, or planes of life:
“There are many rooms in my Father’s house.” (ISV)
“There are many dwelling places in my Father’s house.” (NET)
God’s first created plane of life was the angelic hosts also called the “morning stars” and the “sons of God” who rejoiced when the earth was created. Job 38:4-7. We do not know how many angelic orders there are, but the Scriptures intimate there are spirit beings of various grades, differing one from the other.
Then God created the human “mansion.” When God created man, He provided for his welfare to all eternity, giving him an earthly home, “mansion,” or “apartment” in the great House, creating Adam on a lower plane than the angels–“a little lower than the angels” Psalms 8:4-5.
Jesus explained there would be another “room” or “dwelling place” created in the Fathers house: “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:2,3). The “place” he would prepare was to be the heavenly resurrection to incorruptibility.
The first step in preparing a place for faithful followers was his own faithful sacrifice unto death. Philippians 2:8-9 states Jesus “humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, also God highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name which is above every name…” When God resurrected Jesus, He raised him from the dead and seated him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come” Ephesians 2:20-21.
Jesus promised those who would become his footstep followers, bearing their cross after him, that eventually they should be with him sharing his glory on the heavenly plane. They should be like unto the angels, but higher than the angels–his bride. This higher resurrection of faithful Christians is described in 1 Corinthians 15:50-53.
Though Adam sinned resulting in the reign of sin and death over all people, the Scriptures promise this earthly home will be restored (Isaiah 11:9).
It is through the reign of Christ and his bride, the faithful Christians given a heavenly resurrection, that the earthly home or mansion will be restored (Romans 8:17-21; Revelation 22:17).
