Psalms 133:1,3 (NIV): “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! …It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”
The agreement between true believers is beautifully depicted in the form of a picture of dew or drops of water falling on Zion. When there is the rain of truth, there is agreement and there is blessing.
Dew is water, and symbolically, water represents truth (Deuteronomy 32:4). Truth is Jesus (John 14:6).
The blessings resulting from the truth are so great that it pictures the blessings of agreement among mankind. This agreement is built on unanimity in matters of understanding God’s plan and on moral issues. When biblical truths unite people, these dear ones form the camp of the Lord, “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Psalm 34:7 (NIV).
During Christ’s reign on earth (Revelation 20:6), the blessings of Jesus and his glorified church (his most faithful followers) will be watering the earth and will be aimed at teaching agreement among all the inhabitants of the earth through the acceptance of the law given by Christ. Then the blessing of dew, or drops of water, will flow from Zion, “…for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” Micah. 4:2. This is “the dew of Hermon…falling on Mount Zion.”
This consent will be a true reconciliation. Whoever will not want to submit to Christ’s directives will be cut off from the people, “And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain” Zechariah 14:17.
God’s truths must unite brothers – “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar…” 1 John 4:20 (NIV).
