This wonderful promise is a foretelling of the Messiah. Moses led his people out of the land of Egypt and stood between them and God in all their relationships with Him. He mediated between God and Israel.
Peter told us that Jesus was the fulfillment of this promise. “…And he shall send Jesus Christ,… Moses said, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own people Listen carefully to everything he tells you.’” Acts 3:18-22.
Moses was a picture of Jesus. At Jesus’ second advent, Jesus will be the mediator between God and mankind. “…there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (I Timothy 2:5.) And when Jesus acts as the great mediator, all that was lost in the fall of Adam will be restored to mankind. Acts 3:20, 21, “and he shall send Jesus Christ,…whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”
What is restored to mankind? Life, health, a close relationship with God, a perfect earth, dominion over the animals. The list goes on and on. We, all, long for that time when the nations will be healed (Revelation 22:3) and “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4, Isaiah 65:17-19) How we rejoice in all our Father's precious promises!
