The true religion will reflect the true God. What is God like? Consider how God’s natural creation demonstrates His attributes. Romans 1:20 (NIV), “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…”

Briefly, creation reflects great power and wisdom. The complexity, precision, immensity, and harmony of the universe is a testimony to God’s omniscience and omnipotence.

When God created life, justice would demand that He provide an environment and sustenance to support that life. And we see a wealth of sustenance for all living creatures throughout our incredible planet. But it was God’s love that made nature beautiful, food tasty, and our minds able to reason. Food could have been boring. Instead, the great variety, colors, textures, and tastes make eating enjoyable.

Thus we understand from creation that God is powerful, wise, just, and loving.

God’s true plan or religion would manifest HIs attributes as well. God planned to create man in His mental and moral image with a free will. Genesis 1:27 (NIV), “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them…” However, by His wisdom, He knew that due to man’s inexperience with sin, that man would try sin. Thus, even before the creation of the world, God had arranged for man’s redemption “with the precious blood of Christ…He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world…” 1 Peter 1:19-20.

When the perfect man Adam sinned, he plunged the entire race into death. The perfect man Jesus ransomed Adam when He took Adam’s penalty upon Himself. Thus everyone (every single person) was redeemed from sin and death. 1 Timothy 2:5,6, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time”.

The due time for this testimony will be when Christ resurrects all mankind and establishes His righteous reign on earth. Then “No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them” — this is the LORD’s declaration. For I will forgive their iniquity and never again remember their sin.” Jeremiah 31:34 (CSB).  Those who choose to prefer evil will die the second death and cease to exist.

Any religion which teaches a god who tortures beings in hell would be out of harmony with God’s character. The concept of eternal torture is unjust, unloving, and unwise. Any religion which teaches that God did not know and plan for man’s redemption is also unwise and unloving.

Thus, the true religion will reflect God’s wonderful attributes.
