Let’s look at scripture starting in Daniel 12th chapter. This entire chapter is ripe with insights into God’s plan, but for now we will focus on some very clear statements in Daniel 12:4 “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (KJV)
To illustrate running to and fro, we see the first transpacific and transatlantic flights began in the late 1930’s, and the first commercial jet was placed in service in 1952. Today, 3 billion of the estimated 7 billion in world population will fly during the year. This does not include other forms of transportation such as rail, car and bus. We only have to go back a few hundred years in history when people didn’t travel much at all. Families lived on farms in a more communal lifestyle. Man traveling by speedy transportation, “many running to and fro,” could only have been foreseen by God.
Consider the exponential increase in mankind’s knowledge. The telephone was invented on March 10, 1876 and the first cell phone in April 3, 1973. July 20, 1969 man set foot on the Moon. December 3, 1967 was the first heart transplant. Why did it take man so long to figure these things out? Because it wasn’t God’s time yet.
God knew with the opening up of the mind of man, a heavy burden of responsibility would be placed upon him. What man didn’t have a hundred years ago was the ability to annihilate, within hours, all life on the face of the earth. Medical advancement are causing people to live longer, exacerbating the problems of over population. We see 32 percent of the oceans are currently over fished. How long can this continue? What nation is willing to go hungry to save the others? Political corruption and national debt are, or already have bankrupted the nations. Most are running on faith in worthless currencies. These issues will prove to be unstoppable by any governance.
Did God do this?
No. But he does have plan to get man out of this mess and give those that believe in him hope. Looking back at Daniel 12:1 “And at that time shall Michael (our Lord Jesus Christ) stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”
When exactly will this happen? Soon! What to focus on? “…Thy people shall be delivered!”
