Part 1: the Bible foretells great evilness in the last days.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV), "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." The conditions on earth are becoming more like the pre-flood conditions, just as Jesus prophesied. Matthew 24:37 (NLT), "When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day." Before the flood, "every intention of the thoughts of his (man's) heart was only evil continually…earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence," Genesis 6:5,11. It's wise to avoid degenerate people.
James 5:3 (NIV), "Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days." Selfishness and greed will intensify in the last days.
Part 2: The Bible also foretells the establishment of Christ's reign in the last days.
When Jesus came to resurrect his friend Lazarus, He used this event as an opportunity to teach. Mary met and asked why Jesus why he didn't come before Lazarus died? Our Lord responded, "Your brother shall rise again. Martha said unto him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day," John 11:23,24. Jesus was affirming that He will resurrect mankind in the last day.
Another prophecy is found in Acts 2:17, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams." This beautiful scripture explains that God will pour His holy spirit of peace, love, wisdom, and power on all mankind! It will be a time of rejoicing for everyone!
"But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it," Micah 4:1. This glorious prophecy teaches us Christ's government will be established worldwide and therefore, justice, peace, and righteousness will reign.
From these scriptures, we can see that we are on the brink of the full establishment of Christ's kingdom! Let us rejoice and be glad!
