Let's define terms. We presume that "heaven: refers to God's abode, and "holy ghost" refers to God's holy spirit and influence working in our lives.
In order to get to heaven (to live with God), one must be 'begotten' (or born again) of God's holy spirit.
John 3:3, “Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
John 3:7-8, “You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must b born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Some scriptures refer to this as being "born again” others as “begotten”. However the same Greek word means “begotten” or “born again”. It’s obvious believers are not currently born again because we can’t come and go as the wind…
The concept of spirit begettal is shown in nature. When man begets sons and daughters, they are begotten of the nature of man. When animals beget their offspring, they are begotten to that nature. So it make sense that in order to become a spirit being, one must be begotten of/by the spirit.
Jesus was made flesh, and became man so that He could pay the ransom price for Adam. When he was baptized at Jordan, the holy spirit descended upon Him and He was then "spirit begotten":
Luke 3:21-22, “…Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him,…Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
In order to receive the holy spirit, one must recognize himself as a sinner, repent, recognize Jesus as the only Savior, be baptized into His death, and must be willing to 'take up their cross and follow Jesus'.
Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Jesus opened the new and living way for us as followers of Him. In order to become part of His bride, we must consecrate our lives to doing the will of our Heavenly Father. Then we are begotten of His holy spirit which guides our paths in the narrow way. Death of our flesh allows for the birth of the spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:35-42)
If one is not begotten of the holy spirit, he will have an opportunity for life on earth in Christ's kingdom. It is during Christ’s 1,000 year reign that all those beautiful prophecies in the Old Testament will be fulfilled. Isaiah 11:2-9, “The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him…with righteousness he will judge the needy,…the wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat,…a little child will lead them…they will neither hurt nor destroy…for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”
1 Timothy 2:3-6, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
