It sounds as though you may be fearful, seeking protection. But if you are God’s, you already have an angel. Psalm 34:7 reads, “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.” The Lord knows His children. We never need fear because He is  always protecting us. We know, “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.

We will certainly have difficulties, but God permits these hard experiences to develop our characters. That’s why the Apostle James could write, “Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides…So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get His help…” (James 1:2-5, Message Bible)

2 Kings 6:15-17 records an amazing story about God’s prophet, Elisha. “When the servant of the man of God (Elisha) rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots (from Syria) was all around the city. And the servant said, ‘Alas, my master! What shall we do?’ He said, ‘Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the Lord open the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” These were God’s angels protecting Elisha!

So, don’t fear or worry. God is at the helm. “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.” Lam. 3:22, 23
