The Bible does not directly answer your question, so we will reason on this topic using scriptural principles. We may certainly rest assured that God made us through wisdom and love. Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Consider God’s character. 1 John 4:8 teaches us that, “God is love.” Love desires and longs to bless. It may be that God desired a larger family. He had already created an angelic family with celestial bodies, but perhaps He desired a terrestrial family. When God created man, He loved His creation so much, that He made us in His own image. Genesis 1:27, 28, “…God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” “In His image” refers to God’s character image: the perfect man, Adam, was intelligent, loving, and just. Additionally, man was given dominion over all the earth – just as God has dominion over everything.

Mankind in their present state of degradation and sinfulness does not represent God’s loving intent for His human children. God created man with a free-will and God desires mankind to worship Him willingly with intelligence, joy, and thankfulness (John 4:24). Our present experiences with sin and death are meant to teach us the consequences of disobeying God’s laws of love and justice. Then in the resurrection, when Christ reigns, Jesus will restore the willing of mankind to perfection – both in character and in health (Acts 3:19-21, Isaiah 35). People will remember the horrors of sin and most will desire to follow God’s righteous will. The unrepentant will die the second death and cease to exist.

Then will be fulfilled the following prophesies: Revelation 21:4 (NIV), “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Isaiah 11:2-9, “…The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb…and a little child shall lead them…They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”

Perfect mankind will live in peace and harmony and love. And God will bless them  forevermore: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9.

Why did God create man? Because He wants to love and bless us!
