Simply put: the answer is sin. Mankind, created in the image of God, were meant to have children, subdue the earth, reign over it as kings, and enjoy life.
But when Father Adam disobeyed God, the dying processes began. Everyone has inherited sin from Adam. (Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned…”) We are all trapped in bondage to this death process. Physical, mental, and emotional illnesses mar every single person, making it impossible to wisely direct our own lives. The earth, itself, has been abused, and the animals are no longer in healthy subjection to mankind.
People long for deliverance. For thousands of years, they have been trying different solutions. But all have failed to bring freedom from sin and death. The Bible says, “…we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together…” Romans 8:22. Satan now reigns on earth. Ephesians 2:2-3, “…the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience…”
Billions of humanity crave liberty. But without divine aid, mankind is powerless. A few struggle vigorously and accomplish something, but none get free. Their only hope is in God and in His Son, Whom He has promised shall deliver His people in His appointed time. 1 Timothy 2:5,6, “…the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
We can thank God that there will be relief. Soon, through Christ’s guidance and assistance, mankind will be able to regain healthy control of their own minds and bodies. Again, they will take their rightful place as kings over this earth, using all its blessings to live in lasting peace and joy. Revelation 21:4 (NIV), “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (See also Psalm 67.)
