Did Mary the mother of Jesus die? And why do Catholics pray to and through Mary?

Mary certainly died. As the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:22, “…in Adam all die…” Since Mary was part of the Adamic race, she did die. The last mention of her in the Bible does confirm that she continued as a believer with other Christians in the early church.   Acts 1:14, “These all continued [...]

What is the relationship or difference between Christ and Jesus?

The word "Christ" first appears in the New Testament in Matthew 1:1 and appears over 500 times.  From the Greek "christos", the word means "anointed".  To Anoint something or someone means to consecrate or make sacred, or to dedicate to the service of God. “Christ” is the Greek equivalent for the Hebrew word “Messiah.”  Jesus was [...]

Is Easter a pagan holiday? Should Christians celebrate it?

There are many theories as to the origin of the word Easter. One theory claims the pagan Saxon fertility goddess, sometimes referred to as Ä’ostre, Ostara, Eostre or Eastre, was celebrated at a festival in the springtime, around the time of the Passover, although no evidence of worship of such a goddess has been found, such [...]

Someone told me that Jesus made mistakes (not sins) as a child just like any other human being learning something. Could this possibly be true? That does not make sense to me because we would not be able to trust him. After all, how would we know where the mistakes end?

We can only go by what the scriptures tell us and the scriptures are clear that Jesus was perfect.  Hebrews 7:26: Jesus was “holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”  Note he was “separate from sinners.” Sin means to “miss the mark” so a mistake or a sin are the [...]

Is it wrong to celebrate Jesus' birthday? I'm a Baptist member but someone told me that Christmas is a pagan celebration.

We believe that Jesus was born about October 1st. However, since Jesus never suggested we commemorate his birthday, it’s not important which day we choose to celebrate that wonderful, blessed event. On Christmas day, we may properly enough join with all whose hearts are in the attitude of love and appreciation toward God and toward [...]

The Bible talks about the earth being flat not round. I take the scripture literally. Could NASA and the world be lying?

Some scriptures are not meant to be understood as literal. For example, the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years. However, Hebrews 3:8-9 reads, "do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put Me to the test and saw My works for forty years." Just [...]
