Any Christian, or anybody, who turns to Traditional African Religions (Voodoo) is putting himself in great danger. These religions are demon worship. Demons are fallen angels who are evil. They may try to possess you, inflict emotional turmoil and grief, or even cause you to physically hurt yourself and others.
Remember the description of the man who was demon-possessed? Mark 5:2-5 (NKJV), 2 “… there met Him (Jesus) out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit (or demon), 3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.”
Some may say that they feel power with Traditional African Religions. This is the power of evil. Avoid and run from evil, because “…your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith,…” 1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV) But the demons will deceive and empower their followers. They will masquerade as helpers. Even “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14. The safest course is to “submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:17 (NKJV)
Don’t let anyone deceive you. As Paul wrote, “If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing,. . .From such withdraw yourself.” 1 Timothy 6:3-5 (NKJV)
So, why do professing Christians turn to African Tradition Religions? Because they are very foolish and have been deceived.
