In the Bible, what are some themes about liberation? I am in that process.

The book of Exodus records that the whole nation of Israel was living in bondage under the Egyptians. Israel’s liberation came from God through the leadership of Moses. Because they had never existed as a free, self-governing nation, it was necessary that they receive and apply instruction before they entered the land of promise. Therefore, […]

Why do people continue to decorate trees on the date of Tammuz's birthdate on December 25, when Jeremiah 10:4 clearly mentions its pagan roots?

“This is what the LORD says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations…for the practices of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not […]

A television reporter stops you in the street to ask, "What's wrong with this world?" How would you answer?

But when Father Adam disobeyed God, the dying processes began. Everyone has inherited sin from Adam. (Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the […]

What is Christmas?

Christmas is celebrated as the anniversary of baby Jesus’s birth. The word “Christmas” is formed from “Christ mass”- meaning a Catholic mass. However, today, most people do not associate a mass with Christmas.

We believe that Jesus was born about October 1st. Since Jesus never suggested we commemorate His birthday, it’s not important which day we […]

After Saul was converted, why was his name changed to Paul?

The first mention of Saul’s name change to Paul is in Acts 13:9, “Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him.” He is always called Paul thereafter. The Scriptures do not explain how or why Saul’s name was changed, only that he became known as Paul.

Saul’s parents […]

Can we elect deaconesses in the church?

Yes, deaconesses may be elected in the church (ecclesia). In fact, the Bible mentions one sister who served in that capacity, although it doesn’t say whether or not she was elected. Romans 16:1 (NIV), “I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon (servant) of the church in Cenchreae.”

The word “deacon” is from the Greek […]
