Wouldn’t we all like to know the answer to this? There are certain things God just doesn’t tell us. Not only do we not know the answer, but we are told not to look for the answer. The scriptures are pretty clear. Matthew 24:36 (ESV), [...]
The Bible doesn't tell us why, it only records what happened between the two brothers. We can suggest a few reasons as to why Cain might have hated Abel. But these are only suggestions. It seems unlikely that at the time when God rejected [...]
Alcoholism is not a curse, but it is an enslaving addiction. Family, work, health all become unimportant compared to the desire for the next drink. Today, science has proved that the predisposition to become addicted is part of a person’s genes. Children and grandchildren [...]
We pray to God our Father. At the same time our Father wants us to acknowledge that his son Jesus is the active agent in answering our prayers. The following scriptures, you cited, agree with this thought. John 14:13-14, “And whatsoever ye shall ask [...]
Daniel 9:24-27 takes us from rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls through the coming of the Messiah. When did the rebuilding of Jerusalem begin? Nehemiah 2:1 records that the Persian King, Artaxerxes, gave Nehemiah permission to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in the “year 20” of [...]
Embrace the beautiful promise, “The Lord has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7. A sound mind is a balanced and healthy mind. The closer we walk with God, the more [...]
This is such a painful experience. When a married couple cannot even talk, there are deep wounds, anger, and sorrows for both people. Sadly, there are many reasons marriages fall apart: adultery, drinking, gambling, domestic violence, bitterness, the occult, etc. Sin is a part [...]
Gospel means “good news.” God’s wonderful plan of salvation for all mankind is God’s good news. When did the Lord begin to proclaim the plan of redemption from sin and death? Way back in the Garden of Eden. Even when God was pronouncing the [...]
It is always appropriate to sing to and praise God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16, “Rejoice always.” Ephesians 5:19,20, “speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God [...]
Romans 5:9 says, “…being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” This means that believers are under the blood of Christ and no longer under Adamic condemnation. Although the blood of Christ covers the sins inherited from father Adam, [...]
In the Greek, the word used here for the wise men is magos or Magi. The term originally referred to the great scholars among the Medes and Persians who counseled the king and who studied astrology, medicine, astronomy and natural science. At the time of [...]
Matthew 24:8-9 “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name.” (NASB) The word “then” in the [...]
“[…] indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one”, (Romans 3: 30). Because two different words are used by Paul we can assume there is a reason for the change. The Greek word for “by” is [...]
Tithing or giving 10 percent (or some other amount) is nowhere commanded in the New Testament. Tithing was part of the Law Covenant God made with Israel. The tithe was to support the tribe of Levites, who were not given an inheritance in the land. They were to be fully [...]
Genesis 4 records the account of Cain and Abel. Both brothers brought an offering to the Lord from their own labors. Since Abel kept sheep, he brought the best of his flock. Cain, as a farmer, brought an offering of food which he had [...]
This scripture tells us that there is only one God, the creator of the universe. He is the father of all living beings. This is well stated in 1 Corinthians 11:3, “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; [...]
There are many scriptures which state the earth will be destroyed by fire. However these scriptures are symbolic. The fire and the earth are not literal. Consider Zephaniah 3:8-12 (CSB), “Therefore, wait for me —this is the LORD’s declaration —until the day I rise up for plunder. For my decision is [...]
God’s command to give tithes (ten percent) started with the Israelites in Leviticus 27:30-34, Numbers 18:26-29, Deuteronomy 12:17. Deuteronomy 14:22 seems to say that you are to tithe of all of the produce. This was all part of the law given to the Israelites. The [...]
The “Millennium” is the 1,000 year reign of Jesus and His church on earth. Revelation 20:6, “…they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” There are definitely many differences in the symbolic heavens before and [...]
“There is a sin which is not unto death, [and] there is a sin unto death; I do not say you should pray for it.” (1 John 5:16) That sin is described as a sin against the holy Spirit of God. It is not [...]
